AFICS-PHL, in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) and the Camp Aguinaldo Golf Course (CAGC), is gearing up for a fundraising golf tournament in February 2027 to help combat child malnutrition. The tournament is tentatively titled The AFICS First Golf Cup: A Big Swing Against Child Malnutrition.
The tournament aims to raise ₱2.5 million through player registration fees and corporate sponsorships. With PBSP serving as the corporate social responsibility arm of many major companies, AFICS-PHL hopes to secure strong corporate support, which is expected to provide the bulk of the funds.
Proceeds will support PBSP's MAMA First 1000 Days Program, which provides nutrition, health, education, environment and livelihood interventions to poor and disadvantaged pregnant mothers and their newborns. The program focuses on the critical first 1,000 days of life, with the goal of helping babies achieve normal nutritional status through intensive health and nutrition interventions.
The project is expected to benefit 20–30 very poor mothers and their newborns in a Quezon City barangay with the highest recorded rate of malnutrition. PBSP will also work with the city government to ensure local engagement and support.
The initiative provides AFICS-PHL with an opportunity to contribute to Zero Hunger, one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Preparations are now underway, led by the AFICS-PHL Outreach Committee and Fund Development Committee. AFICS members will be engaged support the tournament through sponsorship solicitation, player registration, event management, logistics and other volunteer activities.
Further details and announcements on the tournament will be released in the coming months.

Why AFICS Chose Child Nutrition?
AFICS-PHL's Swing Against Child Malnutrition is more than just a golf tournament. It is the Association's major fund-raising initiative for 2027, bringing together members, friends, and partners to help improve the nutritional status of Filipino mothers and young children.
AFICS-PHL chose child nutrition because the earliest years of life lay the foundation for a child's health, growth, and ability to learn. By supporting proven nutrition interventions during this critical period, the Association hopes to help give more children a healthier start in life.
To ensure that the funds raised will have the greatest impact, AFICS-PHL is partnering with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP). For more than five decades, PBSP has worked with communities across the country, bringing together local leaders, families, businesses, and government to address development challenges through community participation and shared responsibility.
One of the programs that AFICS-PHL will support is First 1000 Days, which focuses on what health experts call the first 1,000 days—from pregnancy until a child's second birthday. This is the period when good nutrition and health care can have the greatest influence on a child's future health and development. The program provides maternal care, nutrition education, micronutrient supplementation, complementary feeding, and other interventions that help mothers give their children the best possible start in life.
Planning for the tournament is underway. The AFICS-PHL Outreach Committee and Fund Development Committee are leading the preparations in close coordination with PBSP, with guidance from the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee. Work is progressing on sponsorships, tournament mechanics, publicity, logistics, and other event arrangements.
As preparations continue, AFICS members will be invited to take an active part in making the tournament a success. Volunteers will be needed to help secure sponsors, assist with registration, support tournament operations, coordinate logistics, and undertake many other activities before and during the event. Like many AFICS initiatives, this fund-raising effort will rely on the commitment, experience, and teamwork of its members.
