The Executive Committee (ExCom) supports the Board of Trustees in implementing the Association's policies, decisions, and work programme under the leadership of the President. Executive Committee members provide leadership to the Association's committees and working groups and work closely with the Board of Trustees to ensure the effective implementation of committee work plans and Board decisions.
The Executive Committee performs the following functions:
Shall assist the President in putting in place the work programme of the Association.
Shall be responsible, with the President's oversight, for implementing the resolutions and decisions taken by the General Assembly, the Board of Trustees, and the Executive Committee itself.
Shall assist the President in establishing Committees and Working Groups deemed necessary to conduct the work of the Association effectively.
Shall advise the President on the special responsibilities of Vice-Presidents for substantive areas of the work of the Association.
The Executive Committee is composed of seven (7) officers. Six (6) Vice-Presidents are elected by the General Assembly, while the President of the WHO WPRO Association of Former Staff Members serves as an ex-officio member.
The ExCom composed of Vice-Presidents elected by the General Assembly serve for a term of two (2) years and may be elected for a maximum of two consecutive terms. The President of the WHO WPRO Association of Former Staff Members serves as an ex-officio member and is not elected.
The Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees are elected in different years to ensure continuity of leadership.
The Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee hold regular joint meetings to review the Association's activities and the progress of committee and working group initiatives. On occasion, these meetings are opened to members-at-large when agenda items would benefit from their participation and input.
