The Membership Committee is a Standing Committee of AFICS-Philippines and one of the first Committees established with the formation of the Association.
The Membership Committee has the following tasks:
Endeavour to increase AFICS membership;
Keep AFICS members engaged with activities of the association; and,
Support in keeping the Membership Database updated.
For 2026 -2027, the Membership Committee aims to:
Increase the AFICS membership from average of 10 to 30 new members per year;
Increase the number of active members from 75 (number of members who joined the UN Day event) to 100 (out of 175 members in Good Standing); and,
Have a reliable and up-to-date Membership database with more than 57% data updated.
The Membership Committee shall be chaired by a Vice President designated by the Board of Trustees. A Vice-Chair shall likewise be appointed. They will serve for a term of 2 years.
The Vice President/Chair shall report to the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee on the Committee’s work and seek approval for its proposals.
The Chair may recruit AFICS-PHL members as volunteers to support the work of the Committee, taking into account relevant academic and professional experience, particularly in areas such as human resources management, UN pension processes, and benefits administration.
Additional volunteers may be engaged on an ad hoc basis to support specific assignments, projects, or analytical work, without being appointed as regular members of the Committee.
The Membership Committee shall hold its regular meetings every first Thursday of the quarter. Schedule for 2026 are as follows: June 4, September 3, and December 3, 2026, and March 4, 2027
The Membership Committee through its Chair reports to the President, Executive Committee, and the Board of Trustees.
Objective 1: To have a more systematic and pro-active recruitment strategy to increase number of new members from an average of 10 per year to 30 per year.
Output 1.1: Popularization of AFICS through the Staff Associations and HR of agencies.
Output 1.2: Guests of UN@80 event to be invited to AFICS.
Output 1.3: Recruitment of at least 1 new member per Officer, Members of Committees, and focal persons.
Output 1.4: Produce a welcome strategy for new members that will encourage participation and interest in AFICS activities.
Output 1.5: Another UNJSPF letter on AFICS requested.
Objective 2: Increase the number of active members from 75 (number of members who joined the UN Day event) to 100 (out of 175 members in Good Standing).
Output 2.1: Information on what would make current members interested to be active in AFICS gathered.
Output 2.2: Together with Communications Committee, Book of with stories from AFICS Members produced.
Output 2.3: Birthday greetings sent out to members.
Output 2.4: Annual payments followed-up.
Objective 3: Have a reliable and up-to-date Membership database. Currently there are 57% data that have been updated before data were migrated to the new database.
Output 3.1: New Membership database cleaned-up.
Output 3.2: A more efficient registration of new members created.
Look for opportunities to recruit new members.
Regularly communicate with the general membership on AFICS matters that would stir their interest.
Keep the membership database updated.
Upcoming Activities
For the second quarter of 2026, the Membership Committee plans to:
Meet with the UN Human Resources Task Team and the Staff Associations to re-introduce AFICS;
Follow-up on potential membership from guests of the UN@80 event;
Invite members to submit write-ups to be featured in the book on AFICS members;
Send Birthday greetings for the celebrants in the months of April – June;
Follow-up payments of annual members;
Clean-up information in the new membership database.
