Health insurance coverage is a concern of all retirees and as such covers medical expenses like doctor visits, surgeries, hospitalization and prescription drugs intended to treat illnesses or injuries. Long-term care (LTC), conversely, covers ongoing, non-medical assistance for individuals with chronic illnesses, disabilities, or cognitive impairments. Both aspects of our health insurance within the UN ASHIL usually requires deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance. A concern of many, as retirees grow older, is how or where to access reliable long term care, including assisted living facilities, adult day care, memory care, and in-home health aides, some of these not covered by standard UN insurance schemes.
